Dragonfly

Beaded dragonfly

To make a very simple beaded dragonfly we will need:
- size 10 seed beads of gray and orange colors;
- two 6 mm round beads of black color;
- 50 cm of wire 0.2 mm thick.

Start weaving from the head of the dragonfly. String onto the wire 1 black round bead, 1 gray seed bead, again 1 black round bead and 3 gray seed beads. Place the set of beads on the middle of the wire.

Take the end of the wire from the side of the black round bead and pass it through the 3 gray seed beads from the other end of the wire. Pull the ends of the wire tight. You’ve got the first two rows of the beadwork.

For the 3rd row string onto either end of the wire 4 gray seed beads

and pass the other end of the wire through them. Then tighten the wire.

In the same way out of 5 gray seed beads make the 4th row.

Next, make the 1st row of wings. String 26 orange seed beads onto one end of the wire and the same quantity of orange seed beads onto the other end of the wire.

Then pass the each end of the wire in the opposite direction through the first added orange seed bead at an appropriate side.

Tighten the wires. You’ve got the 1st row of wings.

Continue weaving the body and make the 5th row out of 5 gray seed beads.

After that make the 2nd row of wings. Make them in the same way as the 1st row of wings, but now for the each wing string onto the wire 23 orange seed beads.

Just as before, to make a wing pass the wire in the opposite direction through the first added orange seed bead.

So make wings at both ends of the wire.

Next, continue weaving the body of the dragonfly. The 6th row make out of 5 gray seed beads.

To finish weaving the body, use the following pattern:
7th row: 4 gray seed beads,
8th row: 3 gray seed beads,
rows from 9 to 21 are identical: 2 gray seed beads in the each row.

Now secure the wire. Pass either end of the wire through the beads of the penultimate row,

then twist together both ends of the wire

 and trim them.

Bend the tip of the wire and hide it between the rows of beads. The beaded dragonfly is finished!
