Frog

Beaded frog

Today we'll make a very simple thing in 3-D beading - a frog.
We will need:
- seed beads of #10 size of four colors; I used green, yellow, red and black colors;
- wire of 0.2 mm in diameter;
- thin nylon line and a beading needle for cross-linking of finished figure.

For beading we will use the technique of three-dimensional beading. Each row of the figure consists of two tiers: the upper tiers will form the back of the frog, and the lower tiers of beads - its tummy.

Let’s start weaving. For the whole frog we need a wire of 100 cm in length.

1st row:
String 7 green seed beads and place them on the middle of the wire.

Hold 4 consecutive beads at one end of the wire and pass the other end of the wire through them, starting from the extreme bead.

Tighten the wire trying to keep its ends of the equal length. We've made the first row. The upper tier consists of 3 beads and the lower tier consists of 4 beads.

2nd row:
For the upper tier string 5 green beads onto any end of the wire.

Pass the other end of the wire through these beads, tighten the wire and bend it, placing the last set of beads above the lower tier of the 1st row.

For the lower tier of the 2nd row string the beads onto any end of the wire in the following order: 1 green, 3 yellow and 1 green. Then pass the other end of the wire through all these beads, tighten the wire and bend it, placing the last set of beads below the upper tier of the current row.

All the next rows make in the same manner.

3rd row:

For the upper tier string the beads in the following order: 1 black, 1 green, 2 yellow, 1 green, 1 black.

For the lower tier string the beads in the following order: 1 green, 2 yellow, 1 green.

4th row:
For the upper tier string the beads in the following order: 2 green, 1 yellow, 2 green.

For the lower tier string the beads in the following order: 1 green, 3 yellow, 1 green.

5th row:
For the upper tier string the beads in the following order: 2 green, 2 yellow, 2 green.

For the lower tier string the beads in the following order: 1 green, 4 yellow, 1 green.

6th row:
For the upper tier string the beads in the following order: 2 green, 3 yellow, 2 green.

Next, make frog’s forelegs. String onto any end of the wire 10 green and 1 red beads.

Holding the red bead, pass this end of the wire backwards through the next 2 green beads.

String onto the same end of the wire 2 more green and 1 red beads.

Again, holding the last red bead, pass this end of the wire backwards through the next 2 green beads.

Repeat the same step two more times

and after that pass this end of the wire backwards through the first 8 green beads of the leg.

Tighten the wire. We’ve got one foreleg of the frog.
In the same manner make another foreleg on the other end of the wire.

For the lower tier of the 6th row string the beads in the following order: 1 green, 5 yellow, 1 green.

7th row:
For the upper tier string the beads in the following order: 2 green, 4 yellow, 2 green.

For the lower tier string the beads in the following order: 1 green, 6 yellow, 1 green.

8th row:
For the upper tier string the beads in the following order: 2 green, 5 yellow, 2 green.

For the lower tier string the beads in the following order: 1 green, 5 yellow, 1 green.

9th row:
For the upper tier string the beads in the following order: 2 green, 4 yellow, 2 green.

For the lower tier string the beads in the following order: 1 green, 4 yellow, 1 green.

10th row:
For the upper tier string the beads in the following order: 2 green, 3 yellow, 2 green.

Next, make frog’s hind legs. String onto any end of the wire 11 green and 1 red beads.

Hold the red bead and pass this end of the wire backwards through the next 2 green beads.

String onto the same end of the wire 2 more green and 1 red beads. Again, hold the last red bead and pass this end of the wire backwards through the next 2 green beads.
Repeat the same step two more times

and after that pass this end of the wire backwards through the first 9 green beads of the leg.

Tighten the wire. We’ve got one hind leg of the frog.
In the same manner make another hind leg on the other end of the wire.

For the lower tier of the 10th row string the beads in the following order: 1 green, 3 yellow, 1 green.

11th row:
Only the upper tier. String the beads in the following order: 2 green, 2 yellow, 2 green.

Then choose any end of the wire and pass it through the previous row of beads.

After that twist together both ends of the wire and trim them off.

Weaving is completed.

Now we should sew together the rows of the frog with a thin nylon line in order to provide toughness to the figure.
Take a thin nylon line, pass it into a needle and at the end of the line make two knots one by one.

Pass the needle under the lower tier of the last row of beads. Then pass the needle through the knot at the end of the nylon line, thus fixing the line on the frog.

After that sew together the rows of beads one by one, passing the needle under them.

Each time before tightening the line place it at the middle of the row.

In this way at first sew together the lower tiers of beads and then the upper tiers.
After that tie a knot on the line, trim off the line and hide its tip with a knot inside the figure.

The beaded frog is finished!
